Parallels between Star-Crossed Lovers and Their Regimes

The regime of Maduro and his recent election has been an incredibly turbulent period in Venezuela's history, and a potential invasion coming from the US is a mortifying idea in today's political climate.

While we don't agree in the slightest with either country's leadership, as the "re-election" of Maduro has sponsored countless fleeing from citizens of Venezuela to neighboring countries, some even entering the US - we stand firmly with both the citizens of the US and Venezuela, especially with our current circumstances and the shared reflections between Maduro and Trump.

We believe the similarities in leadership that Maduro and Trump share are quintessential to the reasoning behind an invasion of Venezuela; we'll list a few key characteristics here:

  • One of Maduro's main grabs at power was in 2017; initiating a new constituent assembly to implant a new Constitution.

  • Maduro has long faced allegations of rigging elections and threatening voters, in order to maintain his grip on the country.

  • As Trump has entered into power in the US, there has been suspicion surrounding the possibility of election fraud and how Trump managed to
    "secure the throne."

Not to mention, Trump and Maduro have been enemies since Trump's first term, attempting to put sanctions on Venezuela to force Maduro to resign, an attempt that didn't work out in Trump's favor. It is our opinion that Maduro and Trump are two sides of the same coin - and this is why they are essentially going to war with each other, in that case we also think they should just make up and kiss already!

Jokes aside, the idea of an invasion of Venezuela comes into play a few months ago in September with the primary missile strikes on Venezuelan boats carrying civilians, murdering 11 citizens under the guise of defense from terrorism. Trump missile striking Venezuela, deploying the US Navy into Venezuelan waters and lamenting many, many times publicly about a potential invasion brings up a question: What would the Trump Administration want with Venezuela?

Venezuela is a country with many natural resources; an increasingly important and interesting one being oil. The US has invaded countries for less than oil before, and it wouldn't be the first time a false flag like alleged drug trafficking and terrorism would be levied against a country to allow for American pillaging. Among Venezuela's allies are Cuba and Iran, two countries for which the US has had an eternal vendetta. These three countries becoming allies, to the chagrin of the US spells out a possible fear in the Trump administration.
